Bangladesh’s largest Jummah prayer held at Bishwa Ijtema

Bangladesh’s largest Jummah prayer, led by Maulana Zobair, was held on the Ijtema ground on the banks of Turag River on Friday.

Millions of people from home and abroad attended the Friday prayer at the first phase of Bishwa Ijtema.

The Jummah Azan started at 12:15pm. The khutba program started at 1:40pm. Then the Jummah prayer started at 1:45pm and continued till 1:52pm.

Thousands of Tabligh members in small and large groups – all clad in tupee and punjabi – came to the banks of the Turag River in Tongi to attend the event.

Pakistan’s Maulana Ziaul Haque started his Aam Bayan (sermons) after Fajr prayer.

Maulana Ismail Gudar gave sermons before the Jummah prayer.

Maulana Zobair will give sermons after Asr prayer and Maulana Ahmed Lat after Maghrib.

Their sermons will be translated into Bangla by Maulana Omar Farooq of Bangladesh.

Eminent scholars from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan will deliver sermons.

The first phase of Ijtema will end on Sunday with Akheri Munajat (final prayers).

The second phase of Ijtema will be held from January 20 to 22 this year.

After the 55th Ijtema was held in 2020, The second-largest congregation of Muslims remained suspended for the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
