DHAKA, June 12, 2019 : Jailed BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is currently undergoing treatment at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), received dental treatment for a fungal infection in her tongue on Wednesday.
She was taken to the hospital’s dental unit from her Cabin No 621 at 1:05 pm and received treatment for 45 minutes, said BSMMU director brigadier general AK Mahbubul Haque.
He said Khaleda has been suffering from fungal infection in her tongue caused by an uneven tooth which was fixed at the dental unit.
BNP Chairperson was shifted to BSMMU with high blood sugar level and pain in joints due to arthritis on March 25.
Khaleda has been in jail since February 8 last year when a special court awarded her five years in prison in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
The High Court later extended her jail term to 10 years in the case. She was also convicted in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case and handed a seven-year jail term.
